Someone introduced me the other day as, “This is Rachel…she’s famous for the student events on campus.” I’ve been working at USG for a little over 3 years and I’ve fallen in love with event planning! If my “claim to fame” is for the events I coordinate, I’m okay with that label. My event planning duties coincide with working with the student organizations on campus and helping them execute their events at USG.
About 2 years ago, the Office of Student Services (OSS) implemented Connect@USG as the student life online portal on campus in order to organize and empower the student organizations on campus. Connect@USG hosts all organizations’ forms and documents, rosters, pictures, budgets, etc. The portal has also become a place for student organizations as well as campus departments to promote their events on campus.
Recently, Connect@USG received a much needed update and facelift! The new design is modern, easy to navigate, and accessible. Earlier this year, the free Corq mobile app became available for download. The app shows a list of events happening on the campus. You should download it right now so you are always in the know. With the recent update to Connect@USG, students and staff can fill out any forms and learn about events all on their phone or tablet.
Check out our new “Opportunity Wall” (pictured below) and see how you can get involved. The Opportunity Wall shows the event details on campus. You can even add the event to your Google or Outlook calendar with just a click of a button. It has never been easier to get involved with an organization, it is literally in the palm of your hand. OSS and student organizations are working hard to plan a fun and engaging semester filled with events.Mark your calendars now for #USGFEST being held on Wednesday, September 16th from 2-4pm. The Student Event Board, USG Student Council, and OSS will have inflatables and snacks along with special guests from Hot 99.5. USG has about 50 student organizations on campus and many will be at #USGFEST with activities and membership information. USG Spirit Day will also be on that same day. Make sure to wear your school’s spirit gear to #USGFEST and get a special gift. Those that are most spirited will be entered in to win other prizes.
