Dear USG,
Some of you may wonder, who is that girl that’s always in the Office of Student Services (OSS)? Well let me introduce myself, my name is Jessica Fuentes, I am a UMBC Psychology major, minoring in Social Welfare. I’ve seriously contemplated sneaking a bed in some corner of campus because I literally live here. Even when I feel exhausted and my senioritis is at its highest peak, I can’t get enough of our beloved campus. Let me tell you why…
From the first day at orientation back in 2015 to now… I have felt that USG is a positive, friendly, welcoming campus. The security guards greet you when you walk in, Dr. Edelstein walks around campus and says hello, professors greet you when you enter class, the OIT staff is extremely helpful, the maintenance staff smile when they see you, and last but not least, the student workers and staff in the OSS office welcome you when you enter the SAS Suite. Yes, let’s stop here and talk about them…
Call me biased because I work there, but I LOVE the OSS. Since last May I’ve been a student worker in OSS and it has been the most rewarding job I’ve had so far. I’ve had the best supervisors! They’ve encouraged me to be the best and to provide excellent service to other students. I am blessed for the friendships and professional relationships that I have developed over the past year and it’s been an honor to be part of such an amazing team. From planning and participating in the USG Fall Fest, to International Night, and now to the upcoming Graduation Celebration where I will be singing the National Anthem, I have loved every task and project given to me and I have strived to make each event successful.
To all my fellow undergraduate peers – join me on Thursday, May 11th at 6:30pm for the Graduation Celebration to celebrate our accomplishments. Don’t forget to RSVP by this Thursday, May 4th! #LifeAtUSG #USGSuccess
As excited as I am about graduating, I can’t help but feel nostalgic knowing that I will miss being here so much. Thank you USG, for giving me the best university experience. I would not have it any other way.
This is not a goodbye, it’s a I’ll be back soon,
Jessica
